Halloween blog hop; August freebies winner!

Though the temps are still in the 70s, the hours of daylight are shorter and it feels like the end of summer. One neighbor asked me over to pick blueberries in her yard today. A second brought over some zucchinis, so I baked several loaves of zucchini bread - some with walnuts and some with chocolate chips - as well as 24 muffins. My hubby delivered two loaves to my neighbor, who also shared some beautiful tomatoes with us. We could have our own little farmers' market here in my neighborhood. That would be sweet!

Welcome to the Fright Night Blog Hop. My downline, Sherry, had the great idea for the hop. You might've come from Pearl's blog. But if this is your first stop, no worries. You can start anywhere and not miss a thing!

For my project, I'm sharing a Halloween sampler - a home decor item - that may be as sweet or creepy as you wish.

Here's a better look at the sampler. Everything is Stampin' Up! product except for the shadow box frame, which I bought at a craft store for $5. Instead of buying a new frame for each holiday, I can simply take out the straight pins holding the Modern Medley designer paper and everything adhered to it to the velvet backing and pin a new sampler! I love that. I used the Halloween Bash and Halloween Hello stamp sets in the Holiday Catalog (page 21), along with ultrafine black glitter (page 20).

Congratulations to Judy Q. in New York for winning my August Mystery Hostess freebies!

Judy actually placed two online orders via my Online Store at http://therubberroom.stampinup.net, so that could explain why her name was drawn by my daughter. Many thanks to the rest of you who participated. Here's the hostess code to use for your Online Orders with me in September: AKS76R6P. All you have to do to be eligible for the free hostess benefits is place an online order. It's that simple!

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you'll continue on our Fright Night Blog Hop.

Here's the list of bloggers participating:

Cutting a perfect snowflake every time

Cut a perfect snowflake every time with the Festive Flurry Framelits in the Holiday Catalog (page 30). And if you bundle it with the Festive Flurry stamp set, you can save 15%! What's a snowflake without sparkle? I added a large rhinestone.

This was another of the 10 designs I used for my recent 20-card Christmas class. It uses a 1-1/2" x 5" strip of Winter Frost Specialty designer paper on a Whisper White layer that was adhered to a white card with dimensionals. The sentiment is from the Joy to the World stamp set (page 24 of Holiday Catalog), stamped in Island Indigo ink.

Win FREE hostess benefits when you place an order thru my Online Store at http://TheRubberRoom.stampinup.net and use this hostess code - GGQ2GJ3A - by August 31. I'll draw a name on September 1 and announce the winner here.

You may also be entered into a drawing for a Pretty Print embossing folder (in the Holiday Catalog) Sept. 1 if the Tag It stamp set is on your order. Tag It sales benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities.

And, if you love Halloween, you'll want to stop by September 1 for the Fright Night Blog Hop. I've got a special 3d item just for the occasion.

Finally, here's my antique share of the day - an aluminum shoe stretcher patented in the early 1900s. It's available via Booth 6 - http://www.facebook.com/booth6goods. Have a wonderful day!

Hearts a Flutter for Valentine card and ribbon wreath

Welcome to the Stylin' Stampin' Squad blog hop. You may have just popped in, or come from Kim's blog. There's a complete list at the bottom of everyone involved in the blog hop so you can be sure to visit everyone! We're featuring Spring Catalog products. I chose to use the Hearts a Flutter stamp set with coordinating framelits of the same name.

I started with a Very Vanilla card and added a Pool Party oval scallop with a More Amore Specialty dsp oval on top of that. Both were diecut using the Oval Collection Framelits. The banner use a sentiment from Seasonal Sayings, a carryover from the Holiday Catalog, and two of the large rhinestone jewels. I finished the card with a knot of satin Pool Party ribbon (a Sale-a-Bration offering you may select for free with a $50 purchase starting January 22), and a couple of stamped and die-cut hearts that are adhered with dimensionals.

I made a ribbon wreath using an 10-inch wire form and 7-8" lengths of retired ribbon knotted onto the frame in current colors - Rose Red, Bashful Blue, Tempting Turquoise and Real Red - and thought the Hearts a Flutter stamp set and framelits would make a great banner! You can see a couple of clear vintage buttons on the banner, as well as a silver basics button (I love those!). The hearts and banners are held together with white baker's twine.

Here's one last look at the card. My club members are making it this month. The wreath and card will look great in my studio. My bestie, Kim, came over for a few hours and helped me take down the Christmas decorations, clean, and put up some Valentine decorations today. Now it's time for you to travel on to the next blog, Justin over at JK Cards. Have fun and enjoy your day!

Deck the halls in style with a paper cone wreath

Hello! Either you hopped here from Kim Ryden's blog or you're starting here. It doesn't matter. What matters is you made it!

I had no idea what I was getting into by making a wreath from scratch. That said, it was pretty cool. I rolled up yesterday's ad inserts to make the body of the wreath (below). After heavily taping it for support (I suggest masking tape or painter's tape), I started making cones (above) out of scallop circles, using a die for the Big Shot.

Before I show you the finished product, I'll tell you WHY I made this paper cone wreath - because the Stylin' Stampin' Squad is featuring holiday projects for our hop, which starts today! Well, that and I wanted a new wreath for my studio.

Photo

I decided to use a few patterns from two Festival of Prints pads I have, along with First Edition dsp (my favorite!). I used a hot glue gun to hold the cones together, then again to adhere the cones to the wreath. Be prepared - you'll need a few hundred scallop circles. Yep. That's what I said. A few hundred. Maybe four.

This project has its ugly stages too. Here's one where I just started adhering the cones above to the wreath. Start on top of the wreath as it lays flat, then fill in the middle and the sides.

Now before you ask, I didn't measure anything. To get off to a good start, I Googled "paper cone wreath" and found a lady who had photos of her wreath. I think she said she used 12-15 glue sticks. It's easy to lose count!

Ta da! The finished project. Now go and see what everybody else has created for their holiday projects! Don't forget to leave comments. We all love those! Next on this hop is Justin and his fabulous projects.

Hostess gift challenge for Stylin' Stampin' Squad blog hop

Autumn leaves - especially those from an oak tree - may not be found blue in nature, but I took creative license so I could use Baja Breeze with Soft Suede and Summer Starfruit as the focal point on a special hostess gift.

This month, the Stylin' Stampin' Squad has a grateful theme, with a challenge of a hostess thank-you gift. I'm always up for a challenge! What you see in the photo below is actually what I gave a hostess - a 2-pocket pouch, complete with an incentive stamps and M&Ms, and a card with a Post-It Note for my note inside of the card so my hostess could reuse it. As for what I'm grateful for today? Nature and all its beauty. I'm saying "Thanks" for different things every day this month on my blog.

Here's a free tutorial on How to Make a Two-Pocket Pouch: http://goinovertheedge.blogspot.com/2011/07/two-pocket-pouch-tutorial.html. Mine uses one 12" x 12" sheet of Birds of a Feather dsp, along with Summer Starfruit ribbon. I purposely kept my hostess gift simple. I like to make things that a hostess (a potential recruit) looks at and says, "I can do that!"

Here's a complete list of everyone on the blog hop. Click the graphic at the bottom to go on to the next website. We love comments too! So don't be shy about leaving one. Have a wonderful day! I've got a holiday bazaar today from 10-3 and then a 10-card Christmas class tonight at 7.

We have a WINNER of blog hop $50 SU! gift certificate!!!

Happy Halloween!

First, I have to share this fun photo I got off of Pinterest. Of course the cat isn't real, but what a great photo opp!

We enjoyed some fun family bonding last night after dinner. Three of us were ready to start carving into our pumpkins, and my son wanted to do his homework. His dad and I talked him into postponing homework (he's an excellent student and I'd made an early dinner) - seriously? lol Our pumpkins are in the photo at the top of this post. My hubby, ever the artist, really worked knives and peelers and a zester to achieve his carving on the left. My carving is on the far right. Here's a photo of what I was shooting for:

I think it's cute, simple and pretty traditional. I kept my carving quick because I got the slimy job on picking pumpkin seeds out of the pumpkin innards to clean and roast them for a snack! I'll be doing that tonight. I did make my first apple pie of the fall yesterday. I had a 30-pound box of apples delivered to me a couple of days ago by a Lions Club member. I purchased the apples to support a summer camp for kids with diabetes. Yum!

Now for the WINNER of The Great Pumpkin Blog Hop and a $50 Stampin' Up! gift certificate...

Shannon Angel!

It was incredible to see how many entries into the drawing there were. Some of you had 13-15 entries each! (Shannon was one of those.) Amazing!!! Thanks to all of you who participated in my 13-week blog hop. I had a blast, and feel as though I've eeked every ounce of fun from Halloween 2012 as I could!

Lucky 13th week of pumpkin blog hop & $50 gift certificate

This is it! The 13th and final week culminating in Halloween on October 31. When you add your project (card, scrapbook page or 3d item) you'll automatically be entered into a drawing on Oct. 31 for a $50 Stampin' Up! gift certificate from me. If you don't already have my badge (shown below) on your blog, add it this week because that gets you an additional ticket in the drawing.

I chose the single stamp Frightening Feline for this week's card. I stamped the cat in Basic Gray ink, then used the color spritzer to add specks of Tangerine Tango. I love the glimmer brad in the middle of the natural wood button - I just inserted the legs of the brad into two of the button's four holes to hold it tight. The button and banner - which uses a sentiment from Delightful Dozen - are adhered with dimensionals.

I used this sketch from Try Stampin' on Tuesday Challenge #89. That challenge started Tuesday (if it wasn't obvious by the name of the blog!). *smile*

Boo! It's Week 12 of The Great Pumpkin Blog Hop

My heart is still in Halloween, but I'm physically at the Tacoma Holiday Food & Gift Festival! I hope if you live close enough, you'll come visit Kim and I in our booth in the Exposition Hall. You can print off a coupon to save a buck on admission. We've made all kinds of fun things using Stampin' Up! product at this first-for-us festival.

I was looking through my designer series paper today and noticed the big Summer Starfruit polka-dot pattern in the Patio Party dsp pack. I thought that color would look good for Halloween - especially when I turned to my Color Coach and saw Elegant Eggplant as one of the Creative Combinations.

So I grabbed my Googly Ghouls stamp set and inked it in eggplant. Then I went over most of the mummy's bandages with a white gel pen. I embossed the "Boo" and tried to make it look like it was trailing off, but I didn't want all of the "o's" stamped because it would've made my design off-center. :-)

I embossed the vertical eggplant piece with the spider web, then sponged it with Whisper White Craft ink, as well as all around the card. I'm pretty happy with it.

You can see I used Mary Jo's sketch at Technostamper. I love her sketches, and use them as jumping off points for cards I use in classes, for my clubs, etc. This sketch just went up Monday, so you have till Sunday to add your own creation!

Here we are on Week 12 of The Great Pumpkin Blog Hop! Just add your Halloween creation to the blog hop, along with the code near the bottom of each post. When you add the code to your blog while you are in the edit HTML mode, your readers can play along, leave comments, and view the samples right from YOUR blog!

At the end of 13 weeks, I will give one person a $50 Stampin' Up! gift certificate! The more times you enter the blog hop, the better your chances of taking home the Grand Prize. You also get a ticket just for displaying The Great Pumpkin Blog Hop badge on your blog. Whoo hoo!

Jack of All Trades kicks off Week 11 of The Great Pumpkin Blog Hop

Boo!!! Welcome to Week 11 of The Great Pumpkin Blog Hop! I'm so excited at how close we're getting to Halloween. I adore the costumes and candy and fun! This week's card uses a few Scrabble tiles. I found a quaint little shop that sells the tiles for pennies. I'd much rather buy only the letters I need than buying Scrabble games at thrift stores and having a bunch of letters I'll never use taking up premium space in my craft area!

This is the first time I've inked up Jack of All Trades this season. I love pumpkins - and cute ones at that. I used Jenn's sketch at Try Stampin' On Tuesday, and am also adding this Halloween card to Pink Paper Bakery's challenge.

That happy face just makes me smile! I used Pumpkin Pie and Lucky Limeade ink and card stocks, as well as the Argyle embossing folder, Flourish Designer Frame (in the Holiday Catalog) and Brights Brads.

Oh, and last but not least, I'm adding this card to Hand Stamped Sentiment's Pumpkin Challenge. Ink up your favorite pumpkin - or make one - and add it!

I cordially invite you to join The Great Pumpkin Blog Hop in Week 11, along with any other challenge you like. Just add your Halloween creation to the blog hop, along with the code near the bottom of each post. Still time to join The Great Pumpkin Blog Hop

Don't mess with the boots! I love the fashionable boots in the Bootiful Occasions stamp set. I embossed stripes on the Tangerine Tango card front, and added a strip of Polka Dot Patterns dsp on Basic Black card stock.

I separated the words from the boot on my clear stamp (so now I have two stamps!). It made it easy at a private class (Hi Susie!) to stamp the words in Basic Black and the boot in Rich Razzleberry. Of course I had to add a few rhinestones to the boot for some bling.

The Great Pumpkin Blog Hop continues in Week 10. Each week, you're invited to add your Halloween creation to the blog hop, along with the code near the bottom of each post. When you add the code to your blog while you are in the edit HTML mode, your readers can play along, leave comments, and view the samples right from YOUR blog!

Join this Stylin' Stampin' Squad for hoppin' Halloween ideas

Halloween never gets old. But you can mix it up a bit with a color that's not so traditional for the holiday, like Island Indigo on this heat embossed silly bat.

Thanks to my fellow SU! demo Heather, I have joined with the talented members of the Stylin' Stampin' Squad for a Halloween blog hop! Welcome, if you've dropped in from Nancy's Momma B Stampin blog. You all know I adore Halloween and all of the trimmings. Now you can jump from blog to blog to take in a variety of ideas. Hopefully you'll try making some too!

I used a color challenge at Hand Stamped Sentiments and a sketch challenge at Freshly Made Challenges for my Tricky Treats card. Both challenges end October 8. My favorite part of this card is the Delicate Designs embossed strip of Early Espresso Core'dinations Card Stock that I sanded and trimmed around. I love texture! The indigo banner was run through the Perfect Polka Dots folder.

A jumbo sticky round is holding the Tangerine Tango rosette to the card front. Those suckers are strong!

I had a few flat glass marbles in my stampin' drawer and thought it'd be fun to stamp some Tricky Treat images, glue them to the back of the marbles and add magnets. My daughter has dibs on these already! lol

If you started with my blog, just click on the cute little spider below to venture on to the next blog on the hop - Shellie's Creative Eclectica! Please take a few minutes to leave comments at each stop! And thanks for visiting me.
