Perfectly Penned birthday

 

I celebrated a big milestone birthday this past weekend (okay, this past WEEK), and there were so many highlights. But my favorite thing was this card my hubby made me!

 

He said he found the already-embossed Crumb Cake layer, though he had to cut it down to layer on the card front, as well as the Very Vanilla oval. But he stamped everything, punched the ticket and added the antique brad and glimmer brads.

 

He even added this wavy Crumb Cake strip inside (another find in my file drawer). I love my hubby so much! He's the best.

 

I'm not one to fixate on age. It's more about how you feel, I think. And I feel young! What is nice, is hearing from all of my friends and family. I am feeling the love, and I truly appreciate it. Here's hoping you feel the love today!

Create a pretty little flower with scallop punch

 



It's amazing how different card stock can look when you moisten it and squish it. This Cherry Cobbler flower is made using five 7/8-inch scallop circles.

 

 

One of my club members saw a card very similar to this in the new catalog (page 178) and asked to make it, adding that she wanted to learn how to make the flower. I started with Baked Brown Sugar ink and card stock (new In Color) and the big French background stamp, En Francais. Using the Stampin' Trimmer, I made the rectangle in the card front, and added a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Whisper White card stock inside the card.

 

The flower stem is a piece of Old Olive card stock. The "leaves" are made using a knot of 1/8" Old Olive taffeta ribbon, and the flower head is made by wetting and stacking five 7/8" scallop circle together. I used a mini silver brad to hold the layers together, then started by squishing the top scallop circle together as tightly as possible, then each layer up around the one before it. After doing this to all of the layers, you fluff the flower to look like you want it. American Ink swaps with sneak peeks and a mini ironing board

 

The new Quatrefancy Specialty designer paper really stands out on this white card. I stamped a long stamp from Mosaic Madness in Pool Party. In hindsight, I think Island Indigo would've been a better choice. Anyway, I used one of the framelits from Apothecary Accent Framelits for the sentiment from Sassy Salutations.

 

 

Barb's swap uses the Honeycomb embossing folder and smallest butterfly punch. The card is Soft Suede with Calypso Coral and new In Color Crisp Cantaloupe. The sentiment is from Bring on the Cake.

 





Frankie's swap uses the new Wildflower Meadow single stamp (she did an incredible amount of coloring with markers - amazing!), and the coordinating embossing folder with the same name. The sentiment is from Petite Pairs.

Kim's swap uses the new Mosaic Madness stamp set, Mosaic Punch, along with the Modern Mosaic Textured embossing folder. "You're Amazing" comes from the stamp set with that same name.

 

Mary Ann's swap uses Floral Fusion Sizzlits, and a sentiment from the Perfectly Penned stamp set.

 

I really enjoy myself at these get-togethers. I'm planning a group retreat August 10-11 at my studio. I'll be prepping a couple of projects for everyone who shows up, as well as prepping random cards for everybody to make as a service project for our troops and a local nursing home.

 

 

Of course I have to share this adorable mini ironing board. That little wooden piece locks the leg in, so it doesn't collapse; otherwise, it does collapse to store easily. The "iron"ic thing - I don't iron. lol

Happy bee-day with a Perfectly Penned sentiment

Two bees or not two bees... that is the question. Okay, just havin' fun!  I spent a wonderful day with my family at the ocean. It was just a day trip, but we walked around Westport, picked up some great-tasting taffy and chocolates, had a lovely lunch, and went for a long walk on the beach. This is Spring Break week for my kids, and my hubby happened to get the day off from work! I CASE'd this card from fellow demo Jill Hilliard. It uses the bee stamp from Spring Sampler, along with the 1" circle punch and 1-1/4" scallop circle punch, some scallop dotted Basic Black ribbon, and a sentiment from Perfectly Penned. Perfectly Penned card from my Secret Stampin' Sister
