Creating framed art with stamps and punches

 

Temperatures are dropping here, so a penguin in hat and scarf doesn't seem so far fetched! I paper pieced the little guy's clothing for a special project I made for my American Ink team Christmas party gift exchange.

 



Here's the finished project. I've seen so many framed art pieces and have been wanting to make one. I used Candlelight Christmas Specialty dsp, along with a handful of punches (scallop square, 1-3/8" square, wide oval, 1-3/8" circle, mitten builder, and tag), and the Scallop Squares Duo die for the Big Shot. The colors are pulled from the dsp - Early Espresso, Red Red and Old Olive. Stamp sets used include Joyous Celebrations, No Peeking, Tags til Christmas, Word Play, Delightful Decorations, and Snow Much Fun. To add some bling, there are Brights glimmer brads on the mittens, a rhinestone on the Noel ornament, and Dazzling Diamonds glitter on several of the images.

We're getting into that time of year for Joyous Celebrations

 I love the simplicity and shine on this Island Indigo and Real Red Christmas card. I CASE'd it from our Stampin' Up! demonstrator magazine, Stampin' Success. The front is embossed with the Chevron folder, there's a knot of stitched white grosgrain, and a scallop border punched strip of Silver Glimmer paper. The oval and word stamps are from the Joyous Celebrations stamp set in the Holiday Catalog. The rhinestones add bling too.

 

I changed up the colors for a 10-card class, using Early Espresso and Old Olive as the main colors, with a strip of Champagne Glimmer paper. I also used the white jersey trim instead of ribbon. The deer is in the Joyous Celebrations stamp set too, along with many other cute images.

 

I'm still giving thanks every day for the many blessings in my life. Yesterday, I was grateful for those people who are talented enough to produce a fun animated movie like Wreck It Ralph. Yep, that's what we went to see. My daughter has been wanting to go for months. It was fun! It had a lot of funny lines, and a great overall message. Today, I'm grateful for food in our cupboards. It's really the simple things that make life special! I hope you enjoy your day.

Snowflake die and trees for Christmas cards

 

Happy Sunday! It's been a full weekend, what with the Stampin' Up! Regional Seminar in Tacoma yesterday, and watching the fun movie Hotel Transylvania with my family for my daughter's birthday. I've got loads of cards and other projects to share with you.

 

Today, I'm posting a few cards from a 10-card Christmas class. The one above uses the Snow Flurry die for the Big Shot, a design from the Candlelight Christmas Specialty dsp pack, and a sentiment from Greetings of the Season.

 

 

The new Holiday Frame embossing folder covers the front of a card beautifully. I stamped the oval from Joyous Celebrations in Midnight Muse ink, punched it out with the Oval Punch, then stamped and cut out the tree from the same set and adhered it with a dimensional. A rhinestone where the star is adds a bit of bling.

 

 

I used the same sketch for this Evergreen Christmas card that I did for this Halloween card. The Very Vanilla card has a few 3/4-inch strips of paper from the Candlelight Christmas Specialty dsp pack. This is a terrific design for random scraps! The little "Merry Christmas" is the corner is from the hostess set Mixed Medley. It's stuck on the top corner with a Stampin' Dimensional.
