Zoo Review giraffe card

I adore lilacs - and the bushes in my yard are finally blooming! I absolutely love the scent.

I think this giraffe image in the Zoo Review set is striking - so striking, in fact, that I opted to NOT add color. Instead, I went for a Daffodil Delight/Basic Gray color scheme.

I embossed the front of the Daffodil Delight card with the Square Lattice embossing folder before adding layers of Basic Gray (punched with the scallop border punch) and Very Vanilla. The giraffe was stamped in Jet Black StazOn, and the sentiment is from the hostess set Banner Greetings. Finally, I added a piece of stitched Daffodil Delight ribbon.

I should note that the Zoo Review stamp set is no longer available for purchase. For the first time ever (that I can remember - and I've been a demonstrator for 12-1/2 years), when stamps on the retiring list are gone, they're GONE. As of today, the stitched ribbon and the embossing folder are retiring, but you can still order them via my Online Store at http://therubberroom.stampinup.net.

Penguin thank-you note

I recently spent a day out and about making Stampin' Up! deliveries, so I needed to come up with some quick thank-you cards to put in each order. This is a 3" x 3" Whisper White card with a strip of Gingham Garden dsp, a bow out of 1/8" Basic Black taffeta, and a sentiment from Perfect Pairs. The penguin is from the Zoo Review stamp set. I punched him out with the 1-3/4" Circle punch.

All of these products are available 24/7 through my Online Store at http://TheRubberRoom.stampinup.net. There are new items on the Clearance Rack, as well, that you may add to your order.

I love this cool retro Miss America clock I bought at a garage sale for cheap. I'm re-decorating my dining room to display some of my fun vintage finds. I'll post photos after I get everything in place. My kids are going to help me move some of the bigger items today.

Zoo Review giraffe with Summer Smooches for Monkey Challenge #103

This week it's all about Animals for A La Card Monkey Challenge #103. This card features four designs from the Summer Smooches designer paper (a new catalog item that's available on an April promotion), along with a Brights button, and a greeting from Happiest Birthday Wishes.

I debated about whether to emboss the main image or not, and obviously decided to do it with the square lattice embossing folder. So what do you think? I've included the sketch below:

Have a great weekend!

It's Anything Goes for A La Card Monkey Challenge #92

I love this week's sketch for my A La Card Monkey blog! Grab some scraps from a couple of patterned papers (Everyday Enchantment dsp from Sale-a-Bration Mini) and add an image and you've got a birthday card, or whatever kind of card you need since the theme is "Anything Goes." I need lots of those, and so I'll be using this sketch again and again.

For this card, I stamped the polar bear from Zoo Review in Jet Black StazOn, and used an aqua painter and ink pads to watercolor the image with Pool Party, Lucky Limeade and Sahara Sand inks. Here's the sketch:
