Take a Walk in the Wild

We've officially entered fall here in the Pacific Northwest. It's not unusual to see quails, such as the one stamped above with Smoky Slate and Soft Suede markers.

This is a Soft Suede card scored 2-3/4" in from each side to leave a 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" section (a regular card size). Layers of Woodgrain-stamped Smoky Slate card stock cover each side of this gatefold card, with a textured belly band of Cajun Craze.

The sentiment and the quail are from the Walk in the Wild stamp set. I used a Circle Framelit die to cut the Soft Suede circle behind the punched quail layer. This card was CASE'd from http://kmaurer.stampinup.net. I'm adding the photo of her designs below so you can see the difference.

Walk in the Wild man card

I am always looking for stamp sets that would make great man cards. The Walk in the Wild set is one of those. I've seen moose in the wild only a handful of times in my life - walking across the highway, grazing at Northwest Trek (a Pacific Northwest animal park), and outside of Yellowstone National Park - and I'm always struck by how majestic they look.

For my card, I started with a Crumb Cake base and added a Woodgrain-embossed layer of Chocolate Chip card stock. The moose and sentiment (both from the Walk in the Wild stamp set) were stamped in Chocolate Chip ink, and sponged after rounding two corners (corner punch is a Weekly Deal right now) and using the oval punch on the sentiment. I made a banner from some natural trim.

To order any of these items, along with Weekly Deals or Clearance Rack items, please visit my Online Store at http://therubberroom.stampinup.net. If you use the hostess code UYVJTBEV you'll also be entered into my March 1 drawing for free Stampin' Up! product of your choice. Thanks!

Use the hexagon punch and take a Walk in the Wild

Have you seen this moose from the new Walk in the Wild stamp set yet? He looks so majestic!

This was the one swap card I received at convention - yes, one! My friend, Cindy Fodor, gave it to me when I saw her. She's an amazing demo in Pennsylvania who hit $700,000 in career sales this year. I love that she paired the moose with hexagons. Who would've thunk it? The sentiment is from a hostess set in the big catalog called Express Yourself.

I didn't make any swaps by choice. It stresses me out, to tell the truth. I love swapping monthly at my American Ink gatherings to get some great ideas, but I feel swapping at convention gets a little crazy/crowded at times, with swappers buzzing around in swarms. I like my space. lol

Use my August hostess code to be eligible to win the hostess benefits. Order the Tag It stamp set and be entered into a drawing to win the Pretty Prints embossing folder, as well. Here's the hostess code to use till Aug. 31: GGQ2GJ3A

Here are a few cuties I found at a recent garage sale. Do you know what they are, because I sure don't! The two on the left have NWA painted on their base, while the third looks like it has duck feet! I'm thinking it may be some kind of cake decoration from back in the day? If you know, please comment!

I'll be sharing more finds with each blog post. There have been so many announcements of new stuff from Stampin' Up! lately, that I haven't been posting cards. I've taken many photos today and will be updating the blog once or twice a day with cards. See you soon!
