Having a blast!

 

I was working in the strawberry shortcake booth at Viking Fest yesterday when I saw a woman with her face painted green and antennae sticking out of her head. I had that image on my brain today as I was prepping for club tonight. I had to ink up the adorable alien in the Blast Off stamp set and add a few googly eyes.

 I pulled the colors off of the designer paper (from a paper stack). The planet is Baked Brown Sugar, the spaceship is Real Red with Tangerine Tango flames, and the alien is Coastal Cabana.

Heirloom Show and lattice happy birthday card

 

This weekend is the Heirloom Show in Puyallup. Kim and I have turned over our spot to a few of our recruits - Sherry, Olivia and Pearl. In addition to what I'm sure will be a fabulous booth, these ladies have prepared some amazing classes! I hope you'll visit if you're in the area. Tell them I sent you.

 

Now onto my card. I used this design at my last 20-card class. I love the look of the Lattice diecut over designer paper. This lattice is sandwiched between a 3" circle, diecut with a Bigz die, and the Watercolor Wonder designer series paper.

I started with a Whisper White card. The only ink and card stock used are Tangerine Tango, with a little bling added by the rhinestones on the little punched flowers. The sentiment is from the hostess set Express Yourself.

Give dad a seahorse

 

I think seahorses are amazing creatures. My favorite fact about them is that it's the male that gives birth! So what better image for a Father's Day card?

 

 

I started with a Bermuda Bay card, running the front through the Decorative Dots folder in the Big Shot to mimic bubbles. The seahorse is stamped in Bermuda Bay ink and punched out with the 1-3/4" circle punch. Then I added a 3/4" and 1/2" punched circles of Whisper White for more bubbles. Finally, I stamped the greeting from Delightful Dozen and made a banner out of it.

The cat in Animal Talk

 

When I stamped the cat image in Tangerine Tango ink, I smiled, thinking about our big orange tabby, Frito. This stamp is in the Animal Talk set. The inside of the card says, "It's cat talk for 'What's up?' " I love the colors in the Retro designer series paper pack, then added some distressing and spritzing with the color spritzer on the card front.

 

 

Here's Frito Lay and my daughter. That cat loves the kids! Frito has a funny smirk on his face in this photo. He has quite the quirky personality, and bosses around our 98-pound dog easily.

Happy Mother's Day!

Just popping in to wish my friends a Happy Mother's Day! I love the saying above. It always cracks me up. Of course, I adore my kids. I think they're the best!

Get Well Tag It card

 

Needing a get well card is usually unexpected, so it's great to have a few on hand. I used the Tag It stamp set for this one. I like that the sentiment fits inside the Decorative Label punch.

 

I used the Color Coach for the color combo - Tangerine Tango, Pacific Point,a nd Real Red. They're bright and cheery! Each panel was run through the Big Shot in the Arrows embossing folder. The card was finished with a knot of stitched Pacific Point ribbon.

Do you know someone who loves to putter in the garden? I love planting perennials, as well as veggies, and watching them grow.

 

Of course, a card with "I DIG YOU!" on the front doesn't have to be for a gardener. It can be just a fun card for a friend. This stamped image is one stamp in the Tag It stamp set, which is retiring. I used Baked Brown Sugar, Wild Wasabi and Cherry Cobbler markers for the image, and the Chalk Talk framelits to diecut it from the Whisper White card stock.

Animal Talk frog card

 

Who wouldn't love a bright Gumball Green frog card that says, "ribbit"?

 

I embossed the front of the card with the Decorative Dots folder. It was a Sale-a-Bration item, and it's available to purchase in the new catalog. I added a strip of Watercolor Wonder designer paper, layered on Island Indigo card stock, then added the main stamp on a 2-1/2" Whisper White circle.

 

Inside the card, it says, "That's frog talk for 'What's Up?' "

Mixed Bunch Mother's Day card

 

A bright flower for mom won't wilt or need water if it's on a card.

 

I started with a Strawberry Slush card, and added 1" strips of Quattrefancy designer paper on the front, cutting them like banners. The Mixed Bunch flower was stamped in Daffodil Delight, punched out and topped with another stamp inked in Strawberry Slush, punched with the 3/4" circle punch, and adhered with a dimensional.

 

The greeting is from Teeny, Tiny Wishes. Inside, another greeting says "Happy Mother's Day." I wish all of my friends and family a wonderful day!

Quick Field Flowers card

 

Bright spots of color are popping up everywhere around town and I love it! It's hard to resist buying flowers when grocery shopping too.

 

I picked two colors and one stamp set - Field Flowers - for this quick and easy card. In a 20-card class, a card like this is refreshingly simple and welcome. This stamp set is on the retiring list, and will be gone by the end of the month.

 

I prepped last night for a 10-card class this morning. I've been trying to design my cards using retiring designer papers and stamp sets when possible. You'll be seeing those cards soon! Enjoy your day.

A birthday is A Fitting Occasion

 

I love sentiments you can punch, like this "It's Your Birthday" from A Fitting Occasion. I layered it with the 1-1/4" scallop circle punch and added a large rhinestone before putting it on the front of my card with dimensionals.

 



I started with a Bermuda Bay card and embossed it with the Alphabet Press folder. Then I added squares of birthday designer paper and the medallion sentiment.

Indigo Island goose

 

Quick and easy is the card du jour. With a big family, I need cards constantly! So having go-to cards like this on hand make my life so much easier. I left the sentiment off so I can use this card for the event of my choosing.

 

I started with a Smoky Slate card and added a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Argyle-embossed Island Indigo, and then a 1-1/2" strip of some Basic Gray patterned designer paper. The Canada goose was stamped in Island Indigo ink on a 2-1/2" Very Vanilla circle. It's that simple!

 

Many stamp sets and accessories from the current catalog are retiring (or already gone!) at the end of the month. The good news is I'll have a new 2014-2014 annual catalog for you by the end of the month and you can start ordering from it June 1. I love new!!!

Zoo Review giraffe card

 

I adore lilacs - and the bushes in my yard are finally blooming! I absolutely love the scent.

 

I think this giraffe image in the Zoo Review set is striking - so striking, in fact, that I opted to NOT add color. Instead, I went for a Daffodil Delight/Basic Gray color scheme.

 



I embossed the front of the Daffodil Delight card with the Square Lattice embossing folder before adding layers of Basic Gray (punched with the scallop border punch) and Very Vanilla. The giraffe was stamped in Jet Black StazOn, and the sentiment is from the hostess set Banner Greetings. Finally, I added a piece of stitched Daffodil Delight ribbon.

I should note that the Zoo Review stamp set is no longer available for purchase. For the first time ever (that I can remember - and I've been a demonstrator for 12-1/2 years), when stamps on the retiring list are gone, they're GONE. As of today, the stitched ribbon and the embossing folder are retiring, but you can still order them via my Online Store at http://therubberroom.stampinup.net.

Make a simple card with Sweet Essentials
