Hearts a Flutter for Valentine card and ribbon wreath

We're featuring Spring Catalog products. I chose to use the Hearts a Flutter stamp set with coordinating framelits of the same name.
 

 

I started with a Very Vanilla card and added a Pool Party oval scallop with a More Amore Specialty dsp oval on top of that. Both were diecut using the Oval Collection Framelits. The banner use a sentiment from Seasonal Sayings, a carryover from the Holiday Catalog, and two of the large rhinestone jewels. I finished the card with a knot of satin Pool Party ribbon (a Sale-a-Bration offering you may select for free with a $50 purchase starting January 22), and a couple of stamped and die-cut hearts that are adhered with dimensionals.

 

 

I made a ribbon wreath using an 10-inch wire form and 7-8" lengths of retired ribbon knotted onto the frame in current colors - Rose Red, Bashful Blue, Tempting Turquoise and Real Red - and thought the Hearts a Flutter stamp set and framelits would make a great banner! You can see a couple of clear vintage buttons on the banner, as well as a silver basics button (I love those!). The hearts and banners are held together with white baker's twine.

 

 

 

Here's one last look at the card. My club members are making it this month. The wreath and card will look great in my studio. My bestie, Kim, came over for a few hours and helped me take down the Christmas decorations, clean, and put up some Valentine decorations today. Crafting festive ribbon wreaths for Puyallup festival

I didn't realize it'd been a few days since I've posted. Time flies when you're crafting! I've been creating for hours every day, preparing for the Heirloom Rubber Stamps & Paper Arts Festival May 19-20 in Puyallup, and the Kitsap Arts & Crafts Festival in July in Kingston. I've made a few ribbon wreaths in the past couple of days. I've got photos of two of them. Both use wire forms with four rings, and were purchased at an area craft store for $2.50 and $1.99. The top wreath is medium, and the one below is small.

When my hubby saw the top wreath hanging on the wall, he thought it looked like it had American flags on it. It does have some red and white striped ribbon, along with some polka-dotted ribbon, but I just used up ends of rolls of ribbon I've had laying around for awhile. Same thing with the Rich Razzleberry and Basic Black wreath above. It does have some Basic Gray taffeta and striped Old Olive ribbons. If you're going to use new rolls of ribbon, I believe the medium wreath uses 7 rolls, and the small one uses about 4. It really depends on the ribbon width, though. Each wreath only took me about 1-1/2 hours to complete. I tie each ribbon on, but don't knot it.

I'm looking forward to the Puyallup show. I have a couple of friends helping with the booth set-up, to make it look more like a vintage boutique. I've been making a variety of items - garden stakes, chalkboard tags, fabric personal tissue holders, candy items and more. There will be a little something for everyone, including lots of retired stamps, punches, ink pads, ribbons, buttons and stitched felt items. If you're going to be in the area, I hope you'll come by and say "Hi" at the shows!

Green ribbon wreath for St. Paddy's Day

I picked up a medium-sized wreath form for $2.50 to make a green ribbon wreath for a St. Patrick's Day decoration. I grabbed all of the green ribbon I could find in my stampin' area - 1-1/4" Wild Wasabi striped grosgrain, 5/8" Old Olive satin ribbon, 1/4" Garden Green grosgrain, Pear Pizzazz poly-stitch ribbon, Old Olive dotted scallop ribbon, and two rolls of the 1/8" Lucky Limeade organdy that I got free during Stampin' Up!'s Sale-a-Bration event - a freebie with a $50 purchase (ends March 31).

I started tying the ribbon around the inner ring first, and worked my way to the outside, ring by ring. Here's the final result:

The wreath looks great next to a green welcome sign next to it!

And now for my precious kitty photo of the week:

My son was cradling Frito, who was holding his orange tabby puppet kitty. How cute is that? I've never seen a cat so happy to be on his back. And Frito is getting bigger. I can tell because he can reach higher with those big, long arms! Have a wonderful day! I get to stay home and do more crafting today.

A ribbon wreath for Christmas...

I'd been wanting to make a ribbon wreath ever since I saw the one near the back of the 2010-2011 Idea Book & Catalog. I picked up a wire wreath form Saturday at a craft store for $3.69. It is four rings of wire connected at six different points and is green. I think it's the 14" form. The wreath took one roll each of:

•  1-1/4" Early Espresso grosgrain
•  1-1/4" Real Red grosgrain
•  1-1/4" Old Olive grosgrain
•  5/8" Real Red satin ribbon
•  5/8" Old Olive grosgrain
•  and 2 rolls of Victoria crochet trim

It took my 10-year-old daughter and I 1-1/2 hours to make the entire thing! It was so easy, I never imagined.
