Bringing on Winter Memories

 

I pulled out one of my favorite vintage-looking Christmas stamp sets for my 10-card Christmas class Saturday. It's called Winter Memories, and it includes these fabulous ice skates as one of the 5 stamps in the set.

 

This Crumb Cake card has an embossed front, a knot of natural trim and some distressing around the Blushing Bride Oval. The skates were stamped in Early Espresso ink and there's a warm and wonderful Christmas sentiment stamped inside (and no photo of it, sorry).

 

I'm currently selling this stamp set and many other holiday stamps on Ebay, so check them out if you're looking for a retired set you'd wished you'd purchased "back when." Thanks!

Winter Memories are being made here today

 

Whoo hoo! We've got snow today - lots of it! I got an early morning call with a recording from the school district announcing school was delayed two hours. I grabbed my daughter and we went down the hill to shop with the Lions Club for holiday food baskets for needy families in our community at 7 a.m. When we got back, my hubby (still waiting for his co-worker, who had to drive his wife to work) said we'd lost power for a few minutes. Then we received another call saying all schools in our area were closed for the day! My kids are happy!!! And my hubby stayed home too. Here's a peek from our front yard:

 

 

I'm so happy we are getting snow before Christmas! It may not be here by Tuesday, but it's nice to have some white stuff now.

 

So on to stamping (finally!) - I CASE'd the card at the top of this post from Mercedes Weber for my last Christmas 10-card class of the year. I love the Winter Memories stamp set in the Holiday Catalog. It's not going to carry over, so if you want a gorgeous sled and ice skate stamp set, order it by January 2. This skating card reminds me of a cool, old case my BFF Kim and I came across yesterday while thrift shopping. It contained an old pair of roller skates with wooden wheels and a case for $79.99. I mean they were neat, and probably from the 1950s (before my time)... but for that much? It makes me crazy when things are donated to stores that jack up the price that much. We're looking for deals and would like to support stores that support local charities. But when you can find these kinds of roller skates online for $35, you know the store price is ridiculous.

 

So no roller skates for me. I'm sticking to making my Christmas gifts or buying local. Since we're all home today, I think I'll bake some Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Bread today. If you want a fabulous recipe, try this one (with photo!). And enjoy your day!



Bringing in November with Christmas cards

 

I love the images in the Winter Memories stamp set in the Holiday Catalog. They're detailed enough you can color them in, or just add spots of color as I did on the card above. The strip of designer paper is from the Candlelight Christmas Specialty pack. These are a few designs from a recent 10-card class.

 

 

This Gumball Green card uses Chock Full of Cheer stamps with Be of Good Cheer dsp.

 

 

This Crumb Cake card has a 2-inch piece of Cherry Cobbler Core'dinations Card Stock, a Night of Navy layer from the Apothecary Accents Framelits and the little bird from the Four Seasons hostess set. I CASE'd this one from Diana Gibbs.

 



 

And back to Winter Memories! The sentiment and image are from that stamp set. This is a Bashful Blue with Marina Mist banner, touches of Rose Red and Bashful Blue on the image and a Label Framelit shape.

 

Though I have plenty to do in the next few days, I spent most of a rainy yesterday baking apple muffins and apple crisps for neighbors. The kids only had a half day of school, and they took the goodies door to door with Halloween cards. It was a nice way to spend a day.

Warm Winter Memories ice skate card for Christmas

Snow and ice skating are a long ways off, but I love this stamp set called Winter Memories you can find in the Holiday Catalog on page 19. It's a 5-piece stamp set and I used two of the stamps - the ice skates and the sentiment - for this card.

My favorite part of this card is the label framelit diecut from Early Espresso Core'dinations card stock. After embossing it, I sanded it. I think it looks spectacular! This was one of four cards at my Express Christmas Workshop last week.
