A sweet cupcake challenge for A La Card Monkey #104

There's a great sketch I made for A La Card Monkey for you this week for Challenge #104: Cupcakes! Cupcakes are all over the place - in movies, on TV, on tables at farmers' markets and little shops around town. So the challenge to you this week is to create a cupcake card using the sketch at the bottom of this post.

I wanted my cupcake to look bright and cheery and ready for a party! I used the Crazy for Cupcakes stamp set, stamping on card stock and Big Top Birthday dsp, then cutting out the parts and adhering them with dimensionals over a 2-1/2" Real Red circle that I faux stitched around using a paper piercer and white gel pen. The sentiment is from the Sweet Cake set in the Occasions Mini. There are only a couple more weeks to buy from that mini, so if you want something, buy it NOW before it's gone. I added mini silver brads on either side of the Modern Label punched greeting.

Stamps: Crazy for Cupcakes, Sweet Cake;
Ink: Tempting Turquoise marker, Basic Black pad;
Paper: Whisper White, Tempting Turquoise, Daffodil Delight, Real Red, Pumpkin Pie;
Accessories: Tasteful Trim die, Big Shot, Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder; dimensionals, 2-1/2" circle punch, paper piercer, mat pack, Modern Label Punch, mini silver brads.

Crazy for Cupcakes yummy cupcake holder

Tonight's club members not only get to make a cupcake holder - they get a yummy chocolate cupcake too! I modeled this after a sample in the catalog. It uses the Crazy for Cupcake stamp set, along with Just Add Cake dsp, Poppy Parade and Pool Party card stock. I used the Modern Label Punch for the phrase and added a couple of rhinestones for some bling.

I got the free tutorial for this cupcake holder off of Jan Tink's blog.

Crazy for Cupcakes Banana split card

This make and take at our American Ink demo meeting last weekend was CASE'd from an older issue of Stampin' Success, our SU! demo magazine.

We started with a Pear Pizzazz card, with a layer of Baja Breeze on top.

The white layer was first stamped with sayings from Crazy for Cupcakes then punched with a Crop-a-dile so the Baja Breeze shows through.

The ice cream bowl is a 1-3/4" circle out of Greenhouse Gala paper that's been cut at 1 inch. The banana is part of an oval punch, and the ice cream scoops are 3/4" circles with the same size circles punched from a strip of Chocolate Chip card stock that'd been punched first with the Scallop Trim Border Punch.

At the bottom of the card, we used the Scallop Trim Border Punch on a strip of Daffodil Delight before knotting some Poppy Parade 1/2" stitched poly-ribbon around it and attaching it.
