My home is filled with JOY

 

Happy Wednesday! I finally got a chance to take some photos of my Christmas banner. I had a class Saturday where the ladies could choose to either make a "Joy" banner or one that said "Noel." Thanks to my BFF Kim, I had stencils on both sides of the long row of tables so each person had a place to sit and work on one letter at a time. It was fun!

 

With the Build a Banner kit, you get lots of canvas flags, so I was able to make two banners Saturday. I think I'll make at least one more. I think they'll make fabulous gifts for a couple of special people I have in mind. Though you only get one string of jute, I used retired 1/4" white grosgrain ribbon for my banners - and I think it looks great!

 

Turn your computer sideways. This photo and the next flipped for some reason! You can see how I put a rosette on the flag (I used Sticky Strip), then used Stampin' Dimensionals to add the patterned paper circle to the rosette and the faceted button to that. Each faceted button has a large rhinestone inside. You can never have enough bling on a holiday banner!

 

Three fabulously glittery snowflakes come in each Christmas banner accessories kit, so I used the two big ones between the letters and the smallest at the end.

 

I cut the lengths of ribbon into four pieces each and tied them in knots. The snowflakes are hanging from the 1/8" silver ribbon. Love it!

Lovely as a Tree Christmas card; Halloween banner class

 

Give old stamps new life with fresh colors and designer papers. I did for my 20-card class Saturday. One of the 10 card designs featured this Lovely as a Tree stamp in Island Indigo and Smoky Slate.

 

Winter Frost Specialty Designer Paper is beautiful! I used a 2" x 5-1/2" strip behind the tree (die-cut with an Apothecary framelit) on the Smoky Slate card front, then added a strip of Smoky Slate for the sentiment, which is from the Warmth & Wonder hostess set. Sparkle and shine is courtesy of the silver 1/8" ribbon (item 132137, $4.95).

Hearts framelits banner for a fun valentine decoration

 

I like to be festive for many holidays, but don't necessarily want to go all out. That's why I love this valentine banner. It's cute and quick.

 

 

These first two photos show each end of the banner. There's a vintage faceted designer button on the hearts at each end.

 

 

Here's the entire banner. It's not huge. Each First Edition dsp flag is 4" x 6" and I used the Hearts Framelits and Full Heart Punch with More Amore Specialty dsp, Real Red, Pool Party and Silver Glimmer papers. I CASE'd the idea from fellow SU! demo Kathleen.

 

It's going to be a fun day! I have a couple of great friends coming over to make some stampin' videos, and it's my kids' Friday since it's the end of the quarter. I'm thrilled I get to sleep in tomorrow! I hope you have a wonderful day.

 

Pinwheel packaging, banner fun, and hydrangeas

Who wouldn't love to receive a fun gift like this one? I love the way the artist added the pinwheel to the bag. I took this photo at SU! Convention 2012 at one of the many display boards. Notice the In Color Dahlia in the center of the pinwheel?

There were little banners everywhere too! They made the display boards look so festive! One of my new friends, Donna H., inspired me to take this photo of a hydrangea growing in my side yard. My photo can't compare to the gorgeous ones on her blog, but I'm trying. I love the color purple. A customer had given my hubby a couple of hydrangeas a few years ago and this is the first year both plants have numerous blooms. They're so pretty!
