Just a little something for a very special someone

 

I prefer cards with sentiments like this for my personal valentines. Sweet but not overly mushy. I'd give this to my hubby, kids and friends.

 

This was another of my card designs for my 20-card class Saturday. I had many new ladies who had never stamped, and using the Chalk Talk stamp set with coordinating framelits was a WOW!, as was the Framed Tulips frame on the Pink Pirouette card front. The little piece of designer paper behind the tag is from a Thanksgiving table setting kit that was in the Holiday Catalog. Nothing like re-purposing! We used Strawberry Slush ink on the tag and a little knot of stitched white ribbon that was adhered with a mini glue dot.

Chalk Talk, Christmas and Tag It swaps

I hosted a stampin' retreat at my studio this past weekend, and an American Ink team meeting too. Everyone stayed all day. Here are a few swaps to share. This first one uses the Chalk Talk Framelits and coordinating stamp set, along with Etcetera designer paper.

Northern Flurry by Frankie White

My photo doesn't do justice to the strip of shiny designer paper at the top of this card. Frankie used the Northern Flurry embossing folder and Festive Flurry framelits to diecut an embossed snowflake she adhered over the embossed card front.

Tag It by Heather Williams

Birthday Basics designer paper shines on this Tag It card. Heather used the Chalk Talk framelit to diecut the image after inking it with markers.

I picked up this little vintage item at an estate sale. It looks like a mini toothbrush holder! I'd asked several people, but I found a photo and description online today. My treasure? A vintage brass lipstick holder! It makes sense now that I know what it is. lol

 

 

 

Grateful Chalk Talk card in pistachio and black

 

I love all of the stamps in the Chalk Talk set. You can see a sentiment layered on top of another stamp from the set. Ornate without being too fussy.

 

I started with a Very Vanilla card base, and layered a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Modern Medley designer paper on top of that. I just wanted to highlight one color, so I chose Pistachio Pudding, adding a couple of pearls on the bigger stamped image. You can find this stamp set on page 12 of the annual catalog. All of the images may either be diecut with the coordinating framelits, or punched with circle and oval punches. Love it! BTW, I CASE'd this card from fellow SU! demo Julie Davison. Her card was white, brown and pink.

In our garage sale travels, my niece has gravitated toward old jars and bottles. She's got an entire shelving unit dedicated to mason jars at the Poulsbo Antique Mall - vintage, painted inside, painted outside and distressed, and filled with goodies like a couple in this photo with wooden spools. If they don't have glass lids with wire bales, they have the old zinc lids with the porcelain inserts. I think I've caught the bug. I have a great wire rack carrier that holds eight jars in my dining room, as well as more old jars on my kitchen shelves. The jars are filled with mini clothespins, Monopoly houses and hotels, buttons, poker chips, marbles,wooden spools, and Scrabble tiles (one old jar holds 300 tiles!).

Chalk Talk card for sketch, color challenges

It's been awhile since I've taken part in a sketch or color challenge, so I decided to make one card using the Chalk Talk stamp set (p. 12) and Beautifully Baroque embossing folder (p. 191) for the Freshly Made Sketches Challenge 93 and Sunday Stamps Color Challenge 53. There's still time to participate in both challenges!

 

 

I started with a 5-1/4" x 8-1/2" piece of So Saffron card stock, then added a 5" x 4" piece of Tempting Turquoise, punching the corners. I layered a 4-3/4" x 3-3/4" piece of Tangerine Tango card stock on top of the turquoise after running it through the Big Shot and rounding the corners. These colors were seriously a challenge for me!

 

 

I used an 11/16" x 5" piece of Tempting Turquoise under the Delicate Details Lace Tape (p. 171) because I thought the card needed a bit more blue, then I added Brights Candy Dots (p. 171). The "for you" is punched with the 1-3/8" Circle punch and adhered with dimensionals on the blue and white layer, which is also adhered with dimensionals over the lace tape. Could there be more? Of course there is! There's an Anything Goes Challenge over at Stampin' Royalty, so I'm adding this card there too. You still have a few days left to add something!
